CMHA provides outpatient behavioral health treatment for children, families, and adults, who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, interpersonal relationship, and/or substance use problems. The counseling program is staffed by licensed marriage and family therapists, social workers, counselors, as well as board-certified psychiatrists and APRN’s.

AIOP provides behavioral health services to those individuals with serious mental illness and substance abuse. The program runs for 4 hours a day, a minimum of 3 days a week, and is offered to those individuals who would benefit from a structured treatment setting. The IOP focus is to reduce symptoms, improve overall functioning, prevent loss of independent or supportive living arrangements, prevent relapse and/or reduce substance use, and avoid hospitalization.

Services are provided according to a treatment plan developed by the client with his or her clinician and psychiatrist. Psychiatric Services, medication management, and coordination of care are available to all clients, along with step-down services. IOP also offers Buprenorphine Maintenance.

The Behavioral Health Home (BHH) Outpatient Program at CMHA provides an additional service to eligible clients by coordinating the integration of primary and behavioral health care. The program aims to improve the quality of life for participants by providing appropriate medical care, wellness education, tobacco cessation, and more.

To be eligible, individuals must be an adult or child with serious behavioral health issues and/or or co-occurring substance use disorders. Potential participants must be on Medicaid, meet DMHAS diagnostic criteria, and have exceeded $10,000 in annual Medicaid costs.

All CMHA clients are screened upon intake for BHH eligibility.

LLSA is funded by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to provide culturally appropriate addiction services to Latina/o clients residing in the New Britain area. Staffed completely by bicultural clinicians, this outpatient program provides services to clients 18 and older who are dealing with serious substance abuse problems. Staff utilizes evidence-based treatments such as Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, and trauma-sensitive services to assist clients in their recovery. Clients and clinicians develop treatment and recovery goals, which are achieved through the group, individual, and family modalities. 

Staff are trained in the treatment of substance abuse disorders and are fully bilingual, and all staff is supervised by a Licensed Clinician. Services are provided within the context of a larger service system so that referrals for other needed services can be facilitated
