After many relocations and several years of waiting patiently, CMHA’s Team Time Social Club in New Britain is complete. For the official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on August 13, Team Time opened its doors and welcomed an impressive number of community members, friends, and family.
Speakers included Team Time President Lisa Quinion, United States Senator Richard Blumenthal, New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart, DMHAS Commissioner Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, and CMHA Board Chairman Todd DeGroff. As part of the ceremonies, Team Time revealed “Betty’s Library” in honor of the late Representative Betty Boukus, who helped procure initial funding for the facility.
While all in attendance remarked on the impressive and beautiful space, the Team Time Social Club is more than just a building. The Club offers a glimpse into the future of integrated behavioral health care, where a whole-person approach to treatment is fully embraced, thus forging a better path to true, long-lasting Recovery.
“This is their social club and this is such a powerful tool for the members because, in many cases, this is their family,” said CMHA President & CEO Raymond Gorman. Having delivered on his promise to see the facility through to completion, President Gorman was honored (and surprised!) by Team Time with the reveal of “Ray’s Den.”
After learning more about the space from excited Team Time members, Senator Blumenthal noted, “What this center is saying to the world is: no one suffering from depression or any mental health illness is alone.”
After all, as Team Time likes to say: When You’re Here, You’re Not Alone.
