CMHA to Offer Multidimensional Family Therapy
Having been successfully awarded a provider contract from the CT Department of Children and Families, CMHA is now set to provide Multidimensional Family Therapy in New Britain!
MDFT is an innovative and evidence-based, family-driven substance use recovery program for adolescents and their families. Recognized as one of the most promising interventions for substance abuse, this service involves working with families in their home, school, and the community so as to view all of the components in an adolescent’s life and ultimately promote positive, long-term change.
All clinicians are fully trained in the MDFT model and work in teams to ensure families have access to supports whenever needed. MDFT accepts referrals for adolescents age 11-18 with substance use problems and other delinquent behaviors. Referrals are accepted from DCF, court and legal systems, churches, behavioral health providers, hospitals, pediatricians, and other community based services.
